A 29-year-old technician, identified only as Kizza from Kayunga District, has died after being electrocuted while on duty.

The tragic incident occurred along the Pakele-Dzaipi Road, just a few meters from Leiya Stream.

The deceased, employed by a private company, reportedly climbed up to work under the assumption that the power was off.

However, the main switch at the Atiak service point in Amuru District was still on, leading to the fatal accident.

Contractors from UMEME are currently conducting maintenance work on the high-voltage poles passing through Adjumani to Moyo, under the management of the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL).

Adjumani Resident District Commissioner, Taban Peter Data, confirmed that the police visited the scene and retrieved the body, which was later taken to Adjumani General Hospital for a postmortem examination.

“This was a very unfortunate incident. My office has informed the technician’s relatives in Kayunga District,” Taban said.
